Create an Outstanding CV

Today’s jobseeker market is highly competitive so your CV needs to STANDOUT from the rest. You never know when a great opportunity may present itself so keeping a current CV close at hand is important. As a vital part of your job-search toolbox, your CV is about marketing yourself.

Ensure your CV stands out with the following steps:

Tailor Your CV

Tailor your CV to the position you’re applying for. Understanding what the employer needs and matching your CV to the requirements will help demonstrate you have what it takes. Look at demonstrating key attributes, your personality and motivation in a short but inspirational piece that’s relevant to the role you are applying for.

Company, Roles and Experience

Use reverse chronological order listing your present job and working backwards. Your work experience should include a brief sentence about the company, your role and a brief outline of your duties, the dates of your employment, key achievements and your reason for leaving.

Education

The level of detail depends on qualifications and your work experience. It may be suitable for school leavers to include exam results, the general guide is, the less recent your qualification the less information you provide. List the name of the qualification, the date you graduated, the institution which granted it and your major.

References and Referees
